Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I got inspired by reading some blogs of cute mommies that do fun themed days with their kiddos. So this afternoon/evening, we had a St. Patrick's Day Shindig! We actually started out this morning dressed in our green and dancing a jig :)

When we got home, we put some shamrocks on our back door, which led to about an hour of enjoyment-taking them off and putting them back on.

After that, we did some crafts-fingerpainting with "jello paint", playing with homemade playdough (which she tried to eat and then didn't want to touch after that), and making a shamrock sticker picture.

For dinner, Chris and I had beef stew and Addison had a fun plate of green foods and we all had Irish Soda Bread for dessert.

Broccoli, zucchini, peas and yogurt with Shamrock sprinkles!

Daddy even brought home a fun balloon to play with.

I also made some green jello, but you can see how well Addison liked that...

17 months

I have been telling my family what a great singer Addison is, but of course she will not cooperate for the camera! She does sing ABCs, Twinkle, Yankee Doodle and Itsy Bitsy pretty well, so hopefully I'll catch it one of these days!

Happy 17 months, Addison!

What are you up to these days? Well, what aren't you up to? You are a very busy girl lately! You seem to be constantly running around, doing things, exploring, and sometimes getting into trouble! You look right at me at times and then do something you know you are not supposed to! Definitely testing your limits! A positive thing is that whenever you get something or touch something you're not supposed to (turning my phone on, finding something on the ground, etc.), you always run and give it to me. You've also somehow managed to open a lot of things lately, that we thought were childproof (your vitamins, daddy's gatorade bottle)! You persevere at something until you get it! Despite the constant running and busy-ness, you still love to read books, love to snuggle with mommy and play with daddy. You still are a great eater, but have had days lately where you don't seem to eat much and then days where you eat more than me! Favorite foods are: cheese, strawberries, blackberries, avocados, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, any kind of bread/cracker, and chicken. Your vocabulary is growing every day and you are even putting some 2-word phrases together (shoe back on, all done, more...., open it, drop it). Your singing (even though I couldn't catch it on camera) is so sweet. Before every nap and when you wake up from naps and in the morning, I just listen to your sweet voice over the monitor, singing every song you know and talking to your dolls in your bed. It melts my heart. You also love to sing in the car, and we have quite the repertoire these days.

We can't believe you're almost a year and a half old-time has flown and it keeps getting better and better with you in our lives Addison. We love you!

Like Mommy Like Daughter

She gives baby a bath, she sweeps, she scrubs the floor... Should I teach her to vacuum next?

16 Months

Addison tried pudding for the 1st time this week. I think she liked it!

Look at those mischevious eyes!

She found this little hat in her drawer and thought it was so fun to wear all afternoon long.

Always climbing and going in things

Addison turned 16 months yesterday! This past month she and I have been sick pretty much the whole month with colds and sinus infections and we're still not over them yet! We're both on amoxicillan, so hopefully we'll be better soon.
At 16 months, Addison is VERY independent. She wants to do everything by herself including: climbing up on chairs, coffee tables, shelves, walking by herself everywhere, typing on the computer, and unlocking my car with the alarm. This can lead to some little tantrums if we do things for her. They usually only last about 10 seconds, then she's on to something else. She is running EVERYWHERE! While it is very cute, it is also dangerous and she has many bruises (mostly on her head) to prove it! She is really tough and only cries if she gets a big bump (again, mostly on her head). She still loves to dance and turn around in circles, sings "Rock-a-bye Baby" all the time to her babies, and is starting to sing along to songs on the radio and her kids CDs. Her current favorite kids songs are: Baa Baa Black Sheep, Twinkle Twinkle, Rain, Rain Go Away, and Itsy Bitsy Spider. Her current favorite radio songs are: A-Punk by Vampire Weekend, Everybody by Ingrid Michaelson and Hey Soul Sister by Train. It is really cute to hear her little voice singing along. She is constantly talking and some of my favorite times are in the car every morning and afternoon on our commute because she just talks and talks and sings. So sweet!
Addison is starting to put 2-words together such as: all done, up chair, ... please, get down. Her vocabulary is always amazing me with the new words she remembers. This week, she's said: star, heart, sticker, stroller (coller), bumpy, to name a few.
I think I say this every month, but Addison still continues to bless us with her happiness and fun personality. Every second spent with her is a blessing. We love you Addison!

California Adventure

Carousel ride part 2

Carousel part 1

On the ferris wheel

She looks like such a big girl here!

Two weekends ago, we took a little trip up to Anaheim and went to California Adventure. It's a smaller Disney park right next to Disneyland. I wasn't sure how Addison would do, but she did great! We rode the ferris wheel, Monsters Inc. ride, Flick's Flying ride, and the carousel twice. Addison loves carousels and to be honest, it's hard for Chris and I to ride it because it makes us sick, but I sucked it up and rode twice with her. She had a great time running all around and taking everything in. She LOVED the Playhouse Disney show and was dancing along with the songs and tried to run up to the front a couple of times! She also really loved the characters walking around and we took pictures with a chipmunk and Minnie Mouse. She's still talking about Minnie and loves looking at the pictures of her and Minnie. It was a fun day!
